i think the following message is from a fellow nearly-the-same SIF work you guys are embarking on...
A piece of good news for you ... ... I'm going China, Heilongjiang, for communtity service (to build school for the students there) from 1-22 June 2002. This project, Project Falin, is organised by Odyssey Society and this is the first trip they are organising. However, nothing comes free... we have to raise $2400 per person for this trip. The amount we have to pay include the building (material) cost, the accomodation, the meals, the transportation etc cost.
By sending you this mail, I'm telling you,YES YOU, that you are my GOOD FRIENDs..... That's why I'm thick-skin enough to ask you for donation...... if you feel "hmm... Huiyi won't feel good to take my money so she must give me something to get that donation", here's something I can offer you!
I'm selling Nalgene bottles (can contain hot/ cold water) and Platypus bags (water bags, also can contain cold/ hot water) as a form of fund raising. There are also t-shirts for sale but I do not have the details yet so I'm selling the containers first.
There is a attached file showing the market rate and my selling rate. Please support me by either donating $$ or buying the bottles/ bags from me. Better still, please help me promote these products to your friends.
This is the website for the society:

heh heh, some pics from my school...

technically this is our field... we call it the grass patch
actually i've still got pictures of our "tools of our trade" - balls, hoops, equipment, but then the free webserver ran out of space. oops!

just want to check with all of you - the lesson plans that we did for steven tan's microteaching assignment last year, what order are they put in? i'm ordering them in this sequence -
i'm taking primary one, three and five for pe, and only primary five for maths. largest size should be 40 in a class, smallest - gulp! - only 22!
anyone whose pess supervisor is paying a visit very soon liao?
the facilities here in my school are:
three badminton courts (school hall),
one basketball court (concrete, outdoor type) adjacent with a volleyball court (concrete, outdoor too)
there is no real field here in the school, only a grass patch... plus a fitness corner.
kind expecting myself to be "superman"... no la, but seriously looking at the lessons being conducted currently, i think i've got lots to do...

well all, today i did my first observations at my school (xinghua primary) and i observed (informally) a primary 3 and later, a primary 5 class. got a couple of things that really slipped my mind, would like to share with everyone -
try to get a few students to be your "stores manager". they go and get the equipment ready for you from the store lar.
always have a whistle handy (i didn't have one at the beginning, so i bought one today)
class management is very important. critical, in fact.
did my first day of observation at school today. roger was cool about me observing how the lesson proceed, and i think that's wonderful. from what i gather, primary 3 kids are short, and really scatter-around-the-place kind if you they outnumber you. which is actually 100% of the time. primary 5 kids are much better behaved, fortunately. the school seems somewhat leaning to autocracy, and since even i wouldn't like it, i guess the children wouldn't like it either. gotta be able to let them feel at ease, but not free them 100%, but close enough to get them to learn. i was trying to recall mike mcneill's lessons for the racquet game, since my ct was doing pickleball for the primary 3 kids...
note: i think i can outsource more lesson plans from my friends who are also pe teachers - one's a pe teacher in river valley high, the other hod (pe) at woodlands secondary... any takers?
